Sentinels’ Amazing Journey to VCT Playoffs Hinges on Three Unlikely Victories

Sentinels’ Playoff Hopes in the Balance as Three Upsets Needed

The VALORANT Champions Tour Americas playoffs are still within reach for Sentinels after an intense series against FURIA on May 18. However, their fate now rests in the hands of three other teams.

Upsets Needed for Sentinels to Make the Playoffs

In order for Sentinels to break into the VCT postseason, they must root for three upsets this weekend. The first upset required is an Evil Geniuses victory over NRG. Currently, EG is in fifth place with a 4-4 record while NRG sits in third place with a series and two more map wins ahead of EG.

Another upset that Sentinels need is a Leviatán victory against the top squad, LOUD. LOUD has established itself as a championship contender with a 14-7 map record and only one series loss. In contrast, LEV is in sixth place, just above Sentinels, and is barely hanging onto a playoff spot after a lopsided 2-0 loss to Cloud9.

Lastly, Sentinels fans will be hoping for an MIBR victory against 100 Thieves in the final matchup of the weekend. If MIBR, currently in ninth place, can secure a series win, Sentinels’ miracle run will be complete, and they will have secured a spot in the playoffs.

An Up-and-Down Season for Sentinels

This season has been a roller coaster for Sentinels fans. The team initially struggled to find success, and doubts arose due to several roster changes. However, with the heroic efforts of Zachary “zekken” Patrone and the return of Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, Sentinels may be witnessing an incredible comeback story unfolding right before their eyes. But first, they must secure a spot in the playoffs.
