Sentinels Aim to Secure Coach Before NA VCT Challengers 1 Playoffs

Sentinels’ VALORANT team likely to have a new coach for North American VCT Challengers One playoffs

The in-game leader of Sentinels’ VALORANT team, ShahZaM, has revealed that they may have a new coach in time for the North American VCT Challengers One playoffs.

Following their departure from Rawkus on Feb. 26, the North Americans have been on the search for a new skipper. According to multiple sources, the team has been practicing with various coaches, and one of the potential candidates is Overwatch player Luis “iRemiix” Galarza Figueroa.

During ShahZam’s recent VALORANT stream, a viewer asked about the progress in finding a new coach, and ShahZam gave an honest response.

“Hopefully we are locking him in before playoffs,” said ShahZam. “We are trying to lock him in before playoffs. We have a coach, we just couldn’t have him locked in before this match [likely referring to their match against Version1 on March 13].”

Rawkus previously served as Sentinels’ first VALORANT head coach. He was brought on loan from FaZe Clan in November 2021 to help the team improve before VALORANT Champions in December. However, the 27-year-old did not have a significant impact, and Sentinels failed to make it to the playoffs after a surprising defeat to KRÜ Esports.

The NA VCT Challengers One playoffs will begin this Thursday, March 17. Sentinels will face The Guard on Friday for a chance to advance to the upper bracket semifinals. They finished the group stage with a 3-2 record, securing wins against NRG, Knights, and Rise, but suffering losses to OpTic Gaming and Version1.
