Sage faces nerfs in the upcoming VALORANT Patch 1.04

Riot Games Targeting Sage in Upcoming VALORANT Patch

Riot Games has announced plans to make nerfs to the VALORANT character, Sage, in the next patch. Ryan “Morello” Scott, the character design lead, revealed in a recent livestream that Sage is currently “out of control.”

Issues with Sage’s Overpowering Presence

Sage is considered the most powerful agent in the game, often being a frequent pick in professional play and ranking high on the competitive ladder. From Iron one to Radiant, her win and pick rates are consistently among the highest in VALORANT, according to stats site Blitz.gg.

One of the main reasons for Sage’s dominance is her unique combination of healing, slows, and barriers, making her an essential pick in almost any situation. With her team-wide healing capability, she has become a staple in teams seeking a sensible composition.

Sage’s Future and Potential Changes

Morello acknowledged that Sage needs significant adjustments, but emphasized the importance of not making her completely unenjoyable to play. While specific details about the changes were not provided, Morello mentioned that her healing ability is not the main issue, and the team might need to approach her changes creatively and possibly more drastically.

With Sage, finding the right balance will undoubtedly pose a challenge. Morello expressed concerns about her potentially becoming too predictable and flat, suggesting that changes to her orbs, wall, and even ultimate ability could be under consideration.
