Saadhak of LOUD suggests EG’s agent select mistake caused a monumental defeat in VCT

Evil Geniuses Makes VCT History in Match Against LOUD

Evil Geniuses created history in their VCT Americas match against LOUD on April 24. However, it was not the outcome anyone expected based on the series’ initial stages. LOUD’s in-game leader blamed EG’s crucial mistake during the agent select phase for their defeat.

EG Stuns LOUD on Split

Despite the majority of fans favoring LOUD in this match, EG surprised everyone by dominating LOUD’s chosen map, Split. They secured a resounding 13-3 victory, handing LOUD their biggest map loss of the year. Even though EG narrowly missed out on a 2-0 victory on Haven, they still had a chance to win the series on Pearl.

EG’s Fatal Mistake on Pearl

Unfortunately, EG could not secure a win on Pearl. In fact, they became the first team in the VCT 2023 season to lose a map 13-0. LOUD’s in-game leader, Matias “Saadhak” Delipetro, revealed in a post-match interview that EG’s downfall began with their agent selection on Pearl.

Saadhak explained that LOUD anticipated EG to continue playing Max “Demon1” Mazanov on Jett and use the Operator effectively. However, EG surprised them by assigning Demon1 to Killjoy instead. This decision made LOUD feel more comfortable since they could now take more space without worrying about Jett being a threat.

EG’s Struggles Without Jett

With Demon1 on Killjoy instead of Jett, EG was unable to take as much space on Pearl as LOUD’s Jett player, aspas, could. In their recent matches, EG had success running a double-initiator, double-controller strategy on Pearl with Demon1 on Killjoy. However, they only managed to scrape a win against winless KRÜ.

Playoff Hopes Dwindling for EG

After this missed opportunity, EG’s chances of making the playoffs appear slim. With a record of 1-4, they would need to win their next four matches to have any hope of reaching the playoffs or Masters Tokyo.
