Riot’s Exclusion of More Than 8,500 Cheaters from VALORANT

Riot Games Bans Over 8,800 Cheaters in VALORANT Closed Beta

Riot Games is taking a strong stance against cheaters in their new game VALORANT. Within just a month of the closed beta launch, the developers have already banned a staggering total of 8,873 cheaters, as reported by Riot anti-cheat data engineer Phillip Koskinas.

Addressing the impressive ban numbers, Koskinas jokingly said, “Located a VALORANT universe where there were 8,873 less cheaters and moved us all into it, please be careful as your bones may’ve shifted during dimensional travel.”

Despite the success in banning cheaters, Riot’s anti-cheat detection technology, Vanguard, has faced criticism due to some unintended side effects. Players have reported frequent disconnects, driver issues, and frame drops, causing outrage within the community.

Nevertheless, Vanguard’s effectiveness cannot be denied. It relies on advanced technologies like Fog of War, server authoritative movement netcode, player reports, data analysis, and machine learning research to identify and remove cheaters. And these 8,873 bans are just the beginning, according to Riot’s K3o.

Cheating is a major problem in tactical shooters like VALORANT and Counter-Strike. By addressing the issues with Vanguard and improving its functionality, Riot can enhance the gaming experience in VALORANT.

Expansion Plans and Future Release Date of VALORANT

VALORANT is currently in its closed beta stage in North America, Europe, Brazil, LATAM, and Korea. Riot Games plans to expand its availability to other regions in the coming weeks and months. The full game is expected to be officially released this summer.
