Riot unveils updates to Split in preparation for its return to VALORANT’s competitive queue

Riot Games Announces the Return of Split to VALORANT Competitive Queue

VALORANT players can rejoice as Riot Games has revealed that Split will be making a comeback to the game’s competitive queue in Patch 6.0. This highly anticipated return comes with a range of changes that will shake up gameplay strategies on this iconic map.

Previously, Split was temporarily removed from the competitive map pool and professional circuit to make room for the game’s newest map, Pearl. The decision to remove Split was driven by factors such as player sentiment, the time since its release, and planned updates for the future.

However, Riot has been hard at work implementing a series of changes to improve the map’s overall experience. For instance, the pathway in A Main has been widened for attackers, while A Tower now features a new staircase and the little garbage can step has been removed for defenders.

Additional changes include the shortening of A Rafters and A Main’s elevated box. The small cubby on B has been transformed into a slight angle instead of a sharp corner, and the B Tower head glitch has been eliminated. These alterations overall aim to give attacking players a better chance at successfully infiltrating the site, addressing an issue that plagued the map in its previous iteration.

Mark your calendars! Patch 6.0 is set to be released on Tuesday, January 10.
