Riot unveils Pearl, VALORANT’s newest underwater-themed map

Welcome to Pearl: VALORANT’s New Underwater Map

Riot Games has unveiled the new competitive map, Pearl, for VALORANT. This stunning underwater paradise is the eighth map in the game and will be introduced in the fifth episode, Dimension. It is also the first map set on Omega Earth.

As players enter the game, they will find themselves in a breathtaking city within an oceanic dome. The map showcases a beautiful blend of futuristic structures by Kingdom Industries and traditional Portuguese architecture. The inclusion of Portuguese murals and art adds an authentic touch to the experience.

Unlike other recent maps, Pearl takes a more straightforward approach. It features a classic three-lane design, with attackers descending into defender territory to secure control over two sites.

Pearl does not include mechanics like ascenders, doors, or teleporters, making it easier for both teams to plan their strategies. Teams can choose to engage in close quarters combat in the compact mid halls or opt for long-range skirmishes in Pearl’s side wings.

According to level designer Joe Lansford, Pearl offers a deceptively simple strategic setup. He stated, “Pearl demands committed engagements, without the rotation and mobility support of doors, ascenders, or teleporters. It still has twists and the depth expected from a VALORANT map.”

With the sunrays filtering through the sparkling waves, agents will need to devise unique strategies to outplay their opponents when Pearl is released on the live servers. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, June 22!
