Riot responds to player feedback by reverting VALORANT’s headshot sound

VALORANT Announces Reversion of Headshot Sound After Player Complaints

Players of the popular esports game VALORANT were unhappy with the recent change to the headshot sound in Patch 0.49. Many took to Reddit to express their dissatisfaction, and Riot, the game’s developer, listened to their feedback.

VALORANT Reverts Headshot Sound in Hotfix Patch

The official VALORANT Twitter account announced that the headshot sound would be reverted in today’s hotfix patch, addressing the concerns of the player community.

The change to the headshot sound was initially implemented due to complaints that the previous sound was difficult to hear. However, the majority of players did not agree with this change. Many fans found the new sound to be “too sharp” and “uncomfortable to listen to.” Some players even compared it to the sound of scraping a knife on a metal plate.

Comparing the new sound to the old one, fans felt that it was not as satisfying. This sentiment was echoed by professional players and content creators.

Former League of Legends professional player Dyrus stated that the headshot sound, which he compared to a “crunching plate,” would be enough to make him quit the game. G2 Esports CEO Carlos “ocelote” Rodriguez also questioned why the sound was changed in the first place.

However, the feedback from fans and pros did not result in an immediate fix. The headshot sound will remain unchanged for the rest of the patch while developers investigate the issue.

Update May 1 8:30am CT: According to VALORANT developer Fancypmcgee, the fix for the headshot sound “failed.” The developers will continue to use the unpopular sound for the remainder of the patch while they work on resolving the issue.
