Riot Provides Exciting Update Following Successful Launch of VALORANT’s Closed Beta

VALORANT Beta Breaks Twitch Records, Riot Games Shares Insights

In a recent blog post, Riot Games’ Joe Ziegler and Anna Donlon provided valuable insights into their thought process following the highly successful day one of the VALORANT beta, which set Twitch records.

While Riot has not disclosed the number of players currently participating in the beta, the game’s popularity is evident from Twitch’s statistics. VALORANT surpassed Twitch’s day one record with an impressive 34 million hours of viewership. Additionally, over one million viewers tuned in on both days in hopes of gaining beta access.

Riot stated, “We’ll be transparent with you as always: we need to ensure that our servers aren’t overloaded. If yesterday was any indication, we must carefully manage the influx of hundreds of thousands of players. While we believe we’re well-prepared to address these issues, we won’t deceive you by pretending that we don’t have any problems to solve.”

Due to the immense demand, the beta version of VALORANT is a work-in-progress. Some players have resorted to creating multiple accounts or purchasing access online. Consequently, Riot has warned that purchased accounts may be subject to bans.

Riot emphasized, “Our priority is to provide a stable, competitive, and high-fidelity gameplay experience, even if it means limiting the number of players we can accommodate for now. We won’t compromise gameplay quality just to include everyone. As a result, we’ll carefully manage the number of players granted access to the closed beta in the coming days and weeks. While it’s a significant number, it still doesn’t match the current demand we’re witnessing. Although this demand may decrease over time, we won’t disregard it.”

VALORANT is set to launch this summer, and the closed beta has no fixed end date yet, making it a highly sought-after commodity.
