Riot introduces new features in Patch 1.07 to enable VALORANT streamers to conceal their identity during matches

Riot Games Adds New Features to Help Streamers in VALORANT

If you’re a content creator who was dealing with stream snipers and trolls in VALORANT, Riot Games has some good news for you. They have added new features to prevent people from identifying popular broadcasters in their matches.

In Patch 1.07, Riot now allows players to hide their names from non-party members. This means that other players will only see the names of the agent they’re playing. Moreover, players can also hide the names of other players who aren’t in their party. Instead, their Riot ID will be replaced with the name of the agent they’re playing as.

This new feature should help prevent streamers from getting stream sniped. Checking the name is one of the easiest ways to determine if you’re in the same lobby as a content creator. Trolls can also check the names of the streamer’s teammates and opponents to confirm their identity.

Many content creators have expressed their concerns about the lack of a streamer mode in VALORANT. Particularly for popular broadcasters, a streamer mode is essential as they often face trolls and abuse during their games.

Once players discover that they’re in the same lobby as a streamer, some take advantage of the situation by damaging the broadcaster, trolling with intentional deaths, or spamming abuse through voice chat.

While these features may not entirely eliminate stream snipers, they are significant steps towards creating a better competitive ranked scene for content creators in VALORANT.
