Riot hints at a revolutionary VALORANT duelist agent, vows Deadlock improvements

VALORANT Prepares for Next Phase with New Duelist Agent

Riot Games recently shared its plans for the future of VALORANT in their “State of the Agents” address. Along with discussing the roles of Gekko and Deadlock in the game’s meta, Riot announced that a new duelist agent will be introduced to the roster soon. This agent will bring a unique twist that players may not have anticipated. Riot hinted that the agent’s abilities will cater to highly skilled and mechanically gifted players who excel at aiming and securing kills.

The upcoming agent has already sparked speculation among players, especially after their card was leaked in the Episode Seven, Act Two battle pass. Known as “Bulletproof,” the agent’s abilities may include damage reduction or the ability to withstand incoming attacks. Furthermore, the leaked audio file and a dedicated movement folder in the game’s files suggest that the agent, codenamed “Giraffe,” will have distinct mechanical movement capabilities.

In addition to the upcoming agent, Riot also addressed the struggles of Deadlock, a sentinel agent who has not found her place in the game’s meta. The developers acknowledge the need for improvements to Deadlock’s kit to make her a more reactive and viable sentinel. Changes to her Sonic Sensor and GravNet abilities are likely in the works to enhance consistency and effectiveness.

Riot Games is also monitoring Gekko’s position in the initiator meta and will observe how recent balance changes impact the agent’s performance. Lastly, they shared a cryptic image titled “duckblood” that hints at a new agent, possibly related to Korean cuisine.
