Riot Deals Crushing Blow to Jett Mains with Shutdown of VALORANT Agent Instalock App

Dappr Games Developer to Delist VALORANT’s Recon Bolt Companion App

Julian Dunskus, the developer behind Dappr games, has announced that the Recon Bolt companion app for VALORANT will be delisted on July 20. The news was shared through a Discord screenshot posted by Twitter user shah.

The app, which was initially created for checking competitive rank changes, has evolved to allow players to instalock VALORANT agents through their mobile phones.

According to Dunskus, who wrote on Discord, he has received a cease and desist letter from Riot, the company behind VALORANT, threatening legal action if the app isn’t taken down along with its GitHub page.

Despite attempting to have a discussion and find a way forward with Riot, Dunskus expressed his disappointment in how the situation has unfolded.

Instalocking, which involves immediately locking in a character in character-based games, can disrupt the party’s balance and limit options for new players. The Recon Bolt app enables players to lock in their agent choices conveniently through their mobile devices, providing a quicker locking process.

However, this practice can negatively impact the team’s composition and communication among teammates, creating a cycle of instalocking in competitive queues.

Riot has previously warned VALORANT players about using unauthorized third-party apps that access hidden game client information. Given the community’s suggestions to address instalocking, it’s not surprising that they have taken action against the Recon Bolt app.

Come July 20, Jett one-tricks accustomed to getting their way may need to adapt to other agents.
