VCT Pacific League Wraps Up with Special Collaboration Music Video
All three VCT leagues are concluding their championship matches this week, leading up to the highly anticipated Masters Tokyo in June. As part of the celebration for the end of the inaugural season of the VCT Pacific League, Riot has released a special collaboration music video featuring Minnie of (G)I-DLE.
To mark the occasion, Riot partnered with Minnie to create a music video titled “Making Waves.” This song has been used as the opening theme for the Pacific League, playing during the introduction animation before each match broadcast. Originally written by Dutch DJ Don Diablo, the song debuted on March 15th, just days before the official start of VCT Pacific.
The track features Minnie, a member of the popular K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE, known for their empowering and unconventional lyrics that challenge stereotypes. Their newest song was released earlier this month, gaining significant attention.
This collaboration is not the first time that Riot has worked with (G)I-DLE. Other members of the group have previously provided their voices for the virtual K-pop group K/DA, which consists of League of Legends champions.
The music video features animated characters engaged in battles across a cityscape adorned with the names of the ten 2023 VCT Pacific teams. The character designs and weapons resemble the agents and rifles from VALORANT, adding to the overall aesthetic.
“Making Waves” has quickly become a fan-favorite song and coincides with the official slogan of this year’s Pacific League, “Make waves,” which has been prominently displayed across the official VCT Pacific stream, stage, and merchandise.
In a message to VCT fans, Minnie expressed her excitement for the Pacific League finals, saying, “It’s gonna be fire!”
