Riot announces the return of 5-stacks at all ranks in VALORANT Patch 3.10

Riot Games Plans to Bring Back Five-Player Stacks in VALORANT Patch 3.10

Riot Games recently announced its plans for Patch 3.10 in VALORANT, bringing back the highly anticipated five-player stacks in ranked matches. This news comes as great relief for players who were disappointed by the removal of the feature.

According to a blog post from the developers, players of any rank will now be able to form five-player teams in Patch 3.10. However, there is a trade-off – these teams will earn slightly less ranked rating. Additionally, four-player stacks will no longer be allowed in the competitive queue.

Noticed some confusion regarding the 5-stack Competitive changes previewed for Patch 3.10. 5-stacks are returning but with a list of additional changes meant to preserve both matchmaking and Leaderboard integrity. We’ll have the full details with Patch Notes 3.10. https://t.co/bb31hAqavR — VALORANT (@VALORANT) November 2, 2021

Riot Games aims to maintain matchmaking and leaderboard integrity while reintroducing the five-player stacks. The full details of these changes will be available in the upcoming patch notes.

The player base had expressed concerns about the previous system, which placed solo players alongside five-player stacks in competitive matches. This often resulted in one-sided matches, as the coordination and communication of the stacks put solo players at a disadvantage. Some professionals and streamers even believed that playing solo in ranked matches was detrimental to their rank.

Some players suggested implementing a separate queue for five-player stacks, similar to the system in Riot Games’ popular game, League of Legends. Although the exact details of the system and changes in VALORANT have not been disclosed, players hope that they will address these concerns in Act Three.
