Riot Allegedly Stops VALORANT Team Partnership for VCT 2023

Global Esports Partnership Talks with Bleed Break Down Over VALORANT League Rules

Global Esports, an organization based in India, was in discussions with Bleed eSports to join forces and compete in VCT 2023 as GE BLEED, according to a report by Dexerto.

The deal, valued at $6 million, was ultimately halted when Riot Games, the publisher of VALORANT, intervened and informed its partnered organizations about the restrictions of the league. Riot plans to implement “tight regulations” on strategic partnerships to prevent potential conflicts, Dexerto reported. The final approval or denial of such deals will be up to Riot Games.

Dexerto also revealed that Global Esports is currently in discussions with other strategic partners for VCT 2023 and has held meetings with venture capitalists to explore the possibility of investment. “I can’t disclose any ongoing deals or discussions, but there are some exciting conversations happening,” said Rushindra Sinha, CEO and co-founder of Global Esports. “We will share details once something concrete develops.”

Notably, the potential partnership between Global and Bleed has been previously executed in VALORANT, with OG Esports and LDN UTD joining forces and competing as OG LDN UTD in VCT 2022.

In the VALORANT Asia partnership league, Global Esports will face off against T1, Gen.G, Paper Rex, ZETA Division, DRX, Talon Esports, DetonatioN Gaming, Team Secret, and Rex Regum Qeon. Bleed, based in Singapore, did not apply for a partnership slot.
