Reykjavík, Iceland Chosen as Venue for VCT Masters Stage 2

VALORANT’s VCT Masters Stage Two to Take Place in Reykjavík, Iceland

Riot Games has announced that the VCT Masters Stage Two for VALORANT will be held in Reykjavík, Iceland in May. This will be the first international competition for VALORANT and will begin on May 24, after the conclusion of the League of Legends’ MSI tournament. The final is scheduled for May 30.

Establishing VALORANT as the Fastest-Growing Global Esport

Riot’s senior director of esports, Whalen Rozelle, stated, “VCT Masters Reykjavik is our next big step in further establishing VALORANT as the fastest-growing global esport.”

The exact format for VCT Masters Stage Two has not yet been revealed. Teams will earn VCT Points through victories in VCT Masters events, which will qualify them for VCT Champions, the VALORANT equivalent of League of Legends’ Worlds.

Embracing International Competition

VALORANT has been missing international competition since its inception. The First Strike tournaments were held regionally, as will VCT Masters Stage One. However, with VCT Masters Stage Two, the event will shift from regional to international, featuring only 10 teams.

Due to COVID-19 safety protocols, there will be no live audience at either event. The tournament will take place in the Laugardalshöll indoor sporting arena, marking Iceland’s first major esports event.

Strong Regional Teams Qualify for VCT Masters Stage One

The qualifiers for VCT Masters Stage One are currently ongoing. Regional powerhouses like Vision Strikers, Sentinels, Team Heretics, and Envy have already secured their spots in VALORANT’s first event of 2021.
