Return of a Powerful Agent in VALORANT Raises Concerns for Fade Players amidst PBE Nerfs

Riot Reveals VALORANT Changes for Public Beta Environment Session

Riot has unveiled the adjustments to VALORANT that players can expect during the upcoming Public Beta Environment (PBE) session. Among the changes are buffs to Cypher and a nerf to Fade.

Cypher Gets Buffed in VALORANT Update

Cypher’s buffs primarily target his Trapwires, Spycam tracker, and Neural Theft ultimate, while also including some quality of life improvements. The Trapwire’s maximum length has been extended from 1000 to 1500. The Neural Theft ultimate now pulses twice, with a four-second delay in between, and can be cast faster on an enemy body and from a greater distance.

Furthermore, the yellow silhouette used for Cypher’s reveal on the Spycam and Neural Theft has been updated. It now disappears when an enemy becomes visible, reducing confusion by eliminating two representations of the enemy. The silhouette also starts dimmer and fades faster, making it easier to distinguish from an actual enemy. Additionally, Cypher’s utility is no longer susceptible to allied AOE damage.

According to Riot’s official post on the PBE subreddit, these changes aim to make Trapwire placements less predictable and enhance the reward and accessibility of the Neural Theft ability. Riot looks forward to seeing new Trapwire setups and placements based on these changes.

Fade Receives Nerfs in VALORANT Update

On the other hand, Fade has undergone a nerf to her Prowler ability. Additionally, the cost of her Nightfall ultimate has increased from seven points to eight. The duration of the Prowler cast has been reduced from 3 to 2.5 seconds, the delay before the Prowler bite has slightly increased, and the Nearsight duration has been shortened from 3.5 to 2.75 seconds. The hitbox of the Prowler ability has also been improved for better counterplay. Furthermore, Prowlers will now fizzle out instead of debuffing their target if they teleport away before the animation is completed.

Riot expects these duration changes to encourage Fade players to be more strategic in their use of the Prowler ability and make it easier for opponents to play against her. The increase in cost for Nightfall is based on Riot’s assessment that its baseline value was higher compared to other ultimates.
