Reportedly, NRG has its sights set on daps, s0m, and Chet for their upcoming VALORANT team.

NRG Reportedly in Talks with Former CS:GO Coach Chet Singh for VALORANT Team

NRG is reportedly negotiating with former CS:GO coach Chet Singh to lead its new VALORANT team. The North American organization also has its sights set on signing CS:GO players Damien “daps” Steele and Sam “s0m” Oh to establish the foundation of their roster, as reported by Rush B Media.

S0m and Daps: The Potential Key Players

At the moment, s0m is the only player currently under contract, having joined Gen.G’s CS:GO team in December 2019. On the other hand, daps has been a free agent since earlier this month when he decided to leave Gen.G due to his loss of faith in the team. Chet recently retired from CS:GO coaching and is set to coach in professional VALORANT.

A History with NRG

Both Chet and daps have a history with NRG. Daps played for NRG from December 2016 to June 2019, while Chet joined the team in May 2018 after leaving OpTic Gaming and stayed until the roster was acquired by Evil Geniuses in September 2019. They were instrumental in helping NRG achieve victories in several CS:GO tournaments, including IEM Shanghai and cs_summit three in 2018.

The Path Forward for Daps

Upon leaving Gen.G, daps expressed his openness to exploring new opportunities outside of CS:GO if it meant advancing his professional career. As one of the notable in-game leaders in North America still active in CS:GO, daps’ potential move to VALORANT would be significant, especially with other prominent names like nitr0 and Josh “steel” Nissan having already transitioned to the game.

In contrast, s0m has not shown any dissatisfaction with Valve’s FPS. The 18-year-old player signed his first professional contract in 2019 with Team Envy and has achieved success with Gen.G under daps’ guidance, winning DreamHack Open Anaheim in February 2020 and ESL One: Road to Rio North America in May.

If NRG successfully acquires s0m for their VALORANT project, Gen.G’s CS:GO roster would be reduced to only three players: autimatic, Kenneth “koosta” Suen, and Hansel “BnTeT” Ferdinand.
