Raze’s Unreliable Ultimate Remains a Significant Issue in VALORANT—Necessitating Action from Riot

Raze’s Ultimate in Valorant: Inconsistent and Frustrating

Riot Games’ latest first-person shooter, Valorant, has been taking the gaming world by storm. However, one aspect of the game has been causing frustration and confusion for players: Raze’s ultimate ability, Showstopper. This powerful ability should guarantee kills, but time and time again, it fails to deliver.

On social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit, clips of Showstopper failing to connect with its target have become common. In one recent post on the Valorant subreddit, a player shared a clip of Raze firing her Showstopper at an enemy Sova, only for the projectile to detonate right next to him, leaving him alive and unharmed.

Even when freezing the moment of detonation, the enemy Sova can be clearly seen within the blast radius of Showstopper. However, the post-death damage report becomes even more confusing. While one part of the interface states that Sova took 147 points of damage, it also indicates that the Showstopper dealt 148 points of damage. This inconsistency only adds to the frustration and confusion surrounding Raze’s ultimate ability.

Although Raze’s team was not directly affected in this particular round, as their own Sova was able to eliminate the enemy Sova, it is still frustrating to witness Showstopper’s inability to perform as intended. While the ultimate is designed to deal less damage to players on the edge of the explosion, there is a lack of consistency regarding what counts as a direct hit.

Some players have theorized that the uneven terrain, such as stairs, could be the reason for the inconsistency. They claim to have experienced similar instances where opponents survived a direct Showstopper blast because they were on elevated surfaces.

While there are debates in the comments about whether the above clip shows a direct hit or not, there is a strong consensus among players that Raze’s Showstopper is one of the most inconsistent ultimates in Valorant.
