Previewing the Game-Changing Developments in EMEA for the 2024 VALORANT Season

Upcoming Changes for the 2024 VALORANT Game Changers Championship Revealed

As the 2024 VALORANT Game Changers Championship approaches, the EMEA league has provided a sneak peek into some important changes for the upcoming season.

Product manager Ashley Washington of the VALORANT Game Changers EMEA recently revealed these changes for the 2024 season through a Twitter post by journalist Nazli “jiji” Özmen.

These changes may not significantly alter the overall structure of the league, but they will have a considerable impact on team formation and management in the future.

According to jiji, “Points now belong to organizations, to protect players from disruptive roster changes during the season, organizations will be required to retain at least three starting roster players between Stages of the league, and outside of the Roster Lock periods. If they change more than three players, they lose points but retain league status.”

This raises the question of how unsigned teams will be affected. According to Washington and jiji, teams without representation by an organization will still have to follow the “starting three” rule for points ownership during a season. Additionally, any new organization entering the league and signing previously unsigned teams must also adhere to this rule for points ownership.

It’s important to note that these rules only apply within a given season’s series. Teams will be allowed to completely change their rosters between seasons without following the “starting three” rule. Contenders teams promoted into the league will be subject to all these rules upon qualification.

The ownership of points is crucial as it determines which teams can qualify for the World Championship at the end of the year. If a core group of players earns points for their organization or unsigned team, they cannot be replaced during the current season.
