Dynasty Disbands: Former Members Face Off in NA VALORANT Challengers Open Qualifier
The first day of the NA VALORANT Challengers open qualifier is set to end with a thrilling match between former members of a disbanded dynasty. This match has the potential to establish a bitter Game Changers rivalry as both teams compete for a coveted spot at Ascension.
Battlefy and Knights Arena recently released the bracket for the single-elimination portion of the NA VALORANT Challengers open qualifier. Notably, two teams in the final round feature two former stars from Cloud9 White, as pointed out by Reddit user detectiveluis.
Melanie “meL” Capone and Alexis Guarrasi are part of the “NeverDone” roster, which also includes the players who will make up the 2023 Version1 roster. On the other side of the bracket, we have “riribunobsumi,” consisting of former C9 White teammates Bob Tran and Katja “katsumi” Pfahnl, along with the rest of the reported 2023 XSET Purple roster.
If both teams manage to win their first two best-of-three series, they will face off in a crucial best-of-three match. The stakes are high, as the winner will advance to the top 32 double-elimination portion of the bracket, where four NA Challengers League spots are up for grabs. The loser will be eliminated from the qualifier and will have to rely on a second “last chance” qualifier next week, with only two Challengers League spots available.
The former C9 White players achieved great success together, dominating the NA Game Changers scene for two years and winning all six NA Game Changers tournaments between 2021 and 2022. However, their reign came to an end when they were shockingly defeated by Shopify Rebellion at the Game Changers Championship 2022, leading to their disbandment a few weeks later.
The first set of matches for the NA VALORANT Challengers open qualifier begins at 5pm CT today but will not be broadcasted.
