Postponement of EMEA VCT matches in the third week of 2022 due to Ukraine crisis

2022 EMEA VALORANT Champions Tour Week 3 Postponed due to Ongoing Crisis in Ukraine

The third week of competition in the 2022 EMEA VALORANT Champions Tour has been postponed due to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. Riot Games made this announcement today. The matches will be rescheduled due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began earlier today. This decision was made to support the players, staffers, and fans who have been affected by the situation.

League Organizer’s Decision

Riot Games, the organizer of the VALORANT Champions Tour EMEA, expressed their concern for the community’s welfare. They stated that their top priority is to support the players, casters, staff, and fans affected by the escalating crisis in Ukraine.

Impact on European VALORANT Circuit

The VALORANT circuit in Europe is played online, with players competing from their home countries. This includes players from Russia and Ukraine who represent teams such as Gambit, Natus Vincere, FunPlus Phoenix, and Acend.

Player Reactions

Vlad “Kiles” Shvets, a Ukrainian-Spanish player from Acend who has family in Ukraine, confirmed that both he and his family are safe. He expressed his disbelief and called it a disaster in our era. Ukrainian player Kyrylo “ANGE1” Karasov from FunPlus Phoenix shared that he woke up to the sound of explosions but expressed pride in the Ukrainian army, government, and people.

Despite the postponement of matches, Riot Games has not provided a new schedule for the affected games. Updates will be shared on their social media channels.

The North American VCT matches are expected to proceed as scheduled without any postponements announced by Riot Games.
