Philadelphia Fusion Says Goodbye to 5 Players, As Carpe Departs for VALORANT

East Region Teams Join Roster Shuffle: Philadelphia Fusion Releases Five Players

In a surprising move, the Philadelphia Fusion has announced the release of five players, including some of the Overwatch League’s longest-serving veterans. Tanks Hwang “Belosrea” Gyu-tae and Kim “Fury” Junho, supports Kwon “AimGod” Minseok and Kwon “FiXa” Yeong-hun, and DPS Lee “Carpe” Jaehyeok have all parted ways with the Fusion as of November 11.

Carpe, who retired from competitive Overwatch, had been the only player to remain on a single Overwatch League team for the full five years the league has existed. His retirement signals a new adventure as he joins T1’s Valorant team alongside other former Overwatch League pros, such as Ha “Sayaplayer” Jung-woo.

New Opportunities and Future Prospects

While Carpe moves on to new endeavors, the rest of the Fusion send-offs are expected to find opportunities in the Overwatch League sphere. AimGod, a former member of the Boston Uprising and Washington Justice, will now have more chances to showcase his skills. He previously fought against Carpe, Fury, and other veterans of the game.

Meanwhile, Belosrea and Fury, a legendary veteran, have left an indelible mark on the Fusion’s tank lineup. Belosrea, a rookie talent, shared tank duties with Fury, providing crucial support for the team. Fury, known for his destructive plays in the backline, has been a force to be reckoned with since his time on the championship-winning London Spitfire roster.

Looking Ahead

Although the Philadelphia Fusion were eliminated from the 2022 playoffs, fans can anticipate the return of rookies MN3 and Zest for the 2023 season. Despite the roster changes, the team ended the season with a commendable 11-13 regular season record.

Stay tuned for more updates as the offseason continues to shape the Overwatch League landscape.
