Paper Rex secures tickets to VCT Masters Copenhagen grand final with a commanding victory against OpTic.

Paper Rex Defeats OpTic in VALORANT VCT Masters Copenhagen

The upper bracket final of VCT Masters Copenhagen featured an intense match between OpTic from North America and Paper Rex representing the APAC region. This match was not only thrilling but also historic as it was the first international VCT match with a live audience. After a three-day break, Paper Rex came out strong and emerged victorious against OpTic.

OpTic entered Masters Copenhagen with the goal of becoming the first team in VCT history to win back-to-back international events. Winning consecutive championships in a growing global esports scene is a highly coveted achievement.

Unfortunately, OpTic fell short today as Paper Rex secured their spot in the grand final with a 2-1 victory. Throughout the tournament, Paper Rex has showcased dominant form and proves their ability to make a mark in VCT history.

Paper Rex started strong by winning the first map, Haven, with their aggressive playstyle that has caused trouble for many teams in Masters Copenhagen. The duel between yay and f0rsakeN in the Chamber was intense and both players stood out, ending with similar KDAs and combat scores.

OpTic suffered a heavy defeat on Haven, losing with a score of 13-3, their worst performance on the international stage.

Moving on to Bind, a map where Paper Rex had won in their eight previous matches, things looked grim for OpTic. However, OpTic showcased their own playstyle and managed to secure a 13-9 victory after leading the first half 9-3.

Moving to Fracture, another strong map for Paper Rex in Masters Copenhagen, the match was hyped for the duel between f0rsakeN and Victor, both playing Neon. The fast pace and tight corners of the map promised an intense showdown. Paper Rex lived up to expectations with their swift playstyle, resulting in quick rounds. The scoreline swung back and forth as both teams pushed each other.

During their defensive side, Paper Rex adopted a more tactical approach and slowed down the tempo by holding strategic positions. Benkai’s impressive performance on Breach with flashes and stuns led his team to a 9-3 lead in the first half.

With a score of 13-5 on Fracture, Paper Rex secured a 2-1 victory. While Paper Rex had shown confidence in VCT Masters earlier this year, many fans still considered them a team from a minor region with individual players who might make an impact. However, this time, the team has proven itself as a cohesive unit.

Paper Rex will now advance to the grand finals of VCT Masters Copenhagen, with the advantage of two map bans. OpTic will face the winner of FPX vs. Fnatic in the lower bracket finals on July 23 at 10am CT.
