Our pick for VCT LOCK//IN MVP: Fnatic VALORANT’s rising star

The first VALORANT esports event is over, with VCT LOCK//IN concluding in an exciting way as Fnatic held off LOUD’s comeback to secure the victory.

The tournament provided a platform for the 30 teams from the three international VCT leagues to showcase their skills. Many players seized the opportunity to shine against international competition.

Now, as we await the start of VCT league play, let’s take a quick look back at the standout performers from VCT LOCK//IN in Brazil.

VCT LOCK//IN MVP

Leo

The MVP of VCT LOCK//IN is Leo Jannesson, whose outstanding overall performance was instrumental in Fnatic’s victory.

Leo played a crucial role for Fnatic throughout the tournament. He excelled statistically in various categories, including a K/D ratio of 1.41 (third highest), a KAST percentage of 81% (tied for sixth highest), and the most total clutches at 13. He also had one of the lowest deaths per round and the fifth highest number of rounds with two or more kills, according to stats from VLR.gg, which also named him as their MVP.

He consistently performed well for Fnatic, with four maps where he had a +10 K/D differential. This included both map one and two in the team’s grand final victory over LOUD. He was also voted as the grand finals MVP.

Shao

NAVI’s Andrey “Shao” Kiprsky had an outstanding performance throughout the tournament, except for the loss against Fnatic. He finished with the second-highest K/D ratio of 1.63 and the highest KAST percentage of 87%. If we exclude the loss, his numbers become even more impressive: 2.29 K/D ratio and a KAST percentage of 91% prior to the playoffs.

MaKo

Before Fnatic’s comeback against LOUD, DRX made a similar attempt, led by Kim “MaKo” Myeong-kwan, who is arguably the world’s best controller. MaKo topped the charts in assists and assists per round and ranked in the top 13 for both K/D ratio and KAST percentage among all players.
