Optimal Sequence for Unlocking Characters in VALORANT

Best VALORANT Agents to Unlock First

VALORANT is an exciting game with a variety of different agents, each with their own unique play styles and abilities. Starting with five unlocked agents, players can unlock new characters as they progress. Choosing the right order to unlock agents can be challenging, considering factors such as the best characters, playstyle, and role on the team. To help you make an informed decision, here are some of the best VALORANT characters to unlock first.

1) Raze

Raze is an 'Overwatch' hero trapped in a 'Valorant' agent's body

Raze is a duelist and one of the strongest explosion experts in the game. Her straightforward kit makes her a perfect first unlock for beginners. Her starting ability, Paint Shells, is a cluster grenade. She can purchase the Boom Bot, a chasing explosive robot, and the Blast Pack that sticks to surfaces and can be remotely detonated. Her ultimate ability, Showstopper, is a single-use Rocket Launcher that deals devastating area-of-effect damage. Raze’s explosives-focused loadout makes her a high-impact agent for securing kills.

2) Breach

New 'Valorant' patch nerfs Sage and Killjoy, buffs Brimstone

Breach is an initiator who provides a significant amount of utility to the team. His abilities force enemies out of position using explosive and area-control abilities. Breach’s free ability, Faultline, dazes enemies hit by it. He can purchase Aftershock, a timed explosive charge, and Flashpoint, a flash grenade that blinds players through walls. His ultimate, Rolling Thunder, is an expanded version of Faultline that launches enemies into the air. Breach is an excellent choice for players who want to learn about the map and new attacking angles.

3) Cypher

Cypher is a sentinel with easy-to-use surveillance abilities that greatly benefit the team. His Signature ability, Spycam, allows him to place small cameras on walls, revealing enemy locations. Trapwire is a purchasable ability that reveals and dazes enemies that cross it. Cyber Cage creates a circular zone blocking line of sight, acting as a smoke grenade. Cypher’s ultimate, Neural Theft, reveals all enemy players on the map using a freshly killed enemy. Cypher’s intelligence-gathering abilities make him a valuable asset to the team.

4) Omen

Valorant: How to Play as Omen - EssentiallySports

Omen is a controller agent with unique abilities compared to the default Controller agent, Brimstone. While he can be difficult to play without mastering rotations and map knowledge, he offers great damage potential once mastered. His Signature ability, Dark Cover, allows Omen to fire a shadow orb that obscures line of sight. He can also teleport using Shrouded Step and impair enemies’ vision with Paranoia. Omen’s ultimate, From the Shadows, allows him to teleport anywhere on the map, providing flexibility in approaching enemies. Mastering Omen is essential in the current VALORANT meta.

After unlocking these four agents, feel free to explore other characters based on your personal preference. Remember, there is no right or wrong order, but starting with these four agents will give you a useful and relatively easy set to begin with. Happy gaming!
