Open tryouts announced by the least successful pro VALORANT team in 2023 for the upcoming year

DetonatioN FocusMe Eyes Roster Overhaul for 2024 VALORANT Season

DetonatioN FocusMe, a Japanese esports organization, is considering making significant changes to its VALORANT roster for the upcoming 2024 VCT season. The team’s performance this year has been disappointing, prompting the need for a fresh start.

DetonatioN FocusMe recently announced that it will be holding open tryouts for next year’s roster, inviting players from around the world to participate. However, there are certain requirements that interested players must meet to join the Japanese organization:

– Age: Players must be 18 years old or older.
– Skill Level: Players must have reached the Radiant rank in VALORANT with a Rank Rating of 600 or higher. It is worth noting that there are currently 220 Asian players who meet this criteria, according to the region’s leaderboard. Some of these players are already playing for other teams.
– Visa Eligibility: Players must be eligible for a Korean visa.

DetonatioN FocusMe’s decision to hold open tryouts for the 2024 season was announced on July 28 through a tweet on their official Twitter account.

The team’s disappointing performance this year is evident from their record of losing all 11 matches they played in various VCT tournaments, including VCT LOCK//IN São Paulo, the VCT Pacific League, and the Pacific LCQ. Additionally, they only managed to win two out of the 24 maps they played in 2023. It is no wonder the organization is seeking fresh talent for the next season.

Considering their lack of success in 2023, it is highly likely that Detonation FocusMe will replace most, if not the entire, roster for 2024. According to the VCT’s global contract database, the contracts of three players—Ryumon “Reita” Oshiro, Park “Seoldam” Sang-min, and Seo “Suggest” Jae-young—are set to expire at the end of the year.

DetonatioN FocusMe may face challenges in attracting established VALORANT professionals in the Pacific region due to their poor performance this year. However, hosting open tryouts presents an opportunity for the organization to discover and nurture new talent in the region, providing them with a chance to compete in the top-tier scene in 2024.
