One Small Problem with VALORANT’s New Favorite Feature

VALORANT’s New Feature Allows Players to Mark Favorite Skins for Each Weapon

For VALORANT fans who have an extensive collection of skins, managing them has always been a hassle. However, with the recent release of Patch 5.07, players can now mark their favorite in-game items, including skins for each weapon.

This new feature, inspired by games like Fortnite, where skin collections have become too massive to handle, is a welcome addition. Even if players only own a fraction of the available items, it can be overwhelming to manage them all. In VALORANT, players often forget to change skins between matches, and without the option to do so during the game, they are forced to wait until the end.

While this feature allows players to showcase their entire collection, there is one small issue: they cannot equip or mark specific color variants of upgradeable skins. If a player has favorited a skin with color variants, it will randomly select a variant at the beginning of each match.

For example, I personally like to match my gun buddies with my skins in VALORANT. I use the red variant of the Recon skin for the Phantom because it matches with the Riot gun buddy. However, the other color variants do not match. Similarly, I use the Boba buddy (pink) for the Vandal, but it only matches with specific variants of the skin. The gun buddy clashes with the other three color variants.

This may seem like a small problem, and I understand that it can sound elitist to complain about my gun buddies not matching the skins I purchased. However, it’s a minor issue that could easily be fixed by allowing players to save their favorite color variants. I can’t be the only one who cares about matching gun buddies to skins, right?
