NRG secures Sentinels’ season with win against Ghost in NA VCT playoffs

NRG Victorious Over Ghost Gaming in VALORANT Champions Tour Stage Two Playoffs

After an intense battle in the lower bracket of the VALORANT Champions Tour Stage Two playoffs, NRG emerged victorious over Ghost Gaming. The win not only eliminated Ghost from the tournament but also secured a Last Chance Qualifier spot for Sentinels, much to the delight of their fans.

The series kicked off on Breeze, with both teams evenly matched in the first half, ending with a 6-6 tie. However, NRG dominated the second half with a strong attack, winning crucial rounds and building a commanding lead. They turned the tide from a 6-6 tie to an 11-6 lead, prompting a timeout from Ghost. Despite Ghost’s defensive round win post-timeout, NRG maintained their dominance and stole Ghost’s map pick with a dominant attack side performance. NRG showcased exceptional teamwork, with four of their five players recording 13 kills or more.

Ghost had a better start on Icebox, securing the first four rounds while playing on the defense. NRG struggled to plant the spike safely during the first half but managed to secure three rounds on the attacking side. After switching sides, NRG made a comeback thanks to a solid defense by tex in the Chamber position. They slowly closed the gap, trailing at 9-8 and 12-11, until a well-coordinated utility usage in the 24th round tied the score, pushing the map into overtime.

In overtime, NRG’s tex made an incredible play on the B site, securing four kills and opening up the site for the attack. NRG established a strong defensive crossfire on the A site, decimating the attacking Ghost team and swiftly winning in overtime with a score of 14-12, thus taking the series 2-0.

NRG’s journey in the tournament has been impressive as they entered the final week of group play with a 1-3 record. With two consecutive elimination series wins, they now face the challenge of winning three more matches in a row if they aim to achieve an unlikely run to Masters Copenhagen. Unfortunately, Ghost, who finished second in their group, has been eliminated from the playoffs after two consecutive losses and are now out of Last Chance Qualifier contention. Sentinels, on the other hand…

…Sentinels can now relish in their VCT viewing experience, knowing that their Last Chance Qualifier spot is secure.
