New VALORANT update introduces Prime 2.0 skins inspired by hypercars, Phantom and Karambit melee included

VALORANT’s Prime 2.0 skins set to release

VALORANT’s Prime skins are known for their sleek design, and fans of the tactical shooter will be excited to know that tomorrow, the Prime 2.0 skins will be available for purchase in the in-game store. This new bundle features a modern aesthetic for several weapons, including the Phantom, Frenzy, Bucky, Odin, and a Karambit-style melee weapon. According to senior weapons artist Chris Stone, the new series can be considered a “hypercar” compared to the luxury sportscar design of the Prime 1.0 line.

“We drew inspiration from hypercar designs showcased at the Geneva Motor Show,” Stone explained. “The exhaust ports and FX interaction on the side of the guns were influenced by the backfire of car exhaust in high-end vehicles.”

The developers aimed to make Prime 2.0 feel more aggressive than its predecessor, incorporating angular shapes and emissive elements that extend from the front to the back of the weapon.

To distinguish Prime 2.0 from the original line, Riot opted for a color scheme of white, black, and gold, omitting the trademark purple accents. Additionally, the howling wolf finisher animation has been replaced with a barreling bull that launches its target into the air before exploding.

The complete bundle will cost players 7,100 VP and includes a player card, a spray, and two gun buddies for free. Individual gun skins can be purchased for 1,775 VP each, and the melee weapon is priced at 3,550 VP.

This isn’t the first time Riot has expanded an existing skin line in VALORANT. Last month, they released the Glitchpop 2.0 bundle, bringing back the cyber-theme for popular guns like the Operator, Vandal, and Phantom. The bundle also introduced an ax as an alternative melee weapon.

According to art lead Sean Marino, while Riot is open to creating more skins for existing lines, they are currently gathering player feedback before making a decision.
