New VALORANT agent, Gekko, dominates ranked lobbies

Gekko’s Win Rate Soars in VALORANT After Release

The latest agent to join the ranks of VALORANT, Gekko, has seen a remarkable increase in win rate within just a day of being released.

Gekko, known for his unique critter-infused abilities, initially had a win rate of 48 percent among all players just hours after his release in VALORANT. However, as players have become more familiar with him, he has quickly risen to have one of the highest win rates in the game, as reported by data website dak.gg.

Among initiators, Gekko currently holds the highest win rate, placing him in fourth position overall. With a pick rate of 5 percent, he boasts a 51 percent win rate, closely following Brimstone, Reyna, and Killjoy. Agents such as Phoenix, Skye, and Sage have lower win rates than him.

In high-elo ranked matches, Gekko maintains a steady win rate of around 50 percent, gradually increasing as players reach the Diamond rank. Gekko’s win rate remains relatively balanced across all ranks, rarely dipping below the 50 percent mark, as indicated by data from blix.gg.

While other agents like Phoenix and Killjoy have typically held the top spots, recent buffs to their abilities have allowed them to shine. However, Killjoy may soon face a nerf as her competitive viability has skyrocketed, and her win rate has surpassed 51 percent in ranked play.

On the other hand, Riot Games is unlikely to nerf Gekko immediately. The game developer usually takes some time to assess whether an agent is too strong or not. Players have experienced frustration with previous agents like Chamber, who was deemed too powerful when first introduced in the competitive scene.
