New NA VALORANT Duelist Shines Bright on Star-Studded G2 Roster in Opening NA Challengers Match against FaZe

G2 Esports’ Rising Star Shines in VALORANT Challengers League

In the first match of the exciting North American VALORANT Challengers league, G2 Esports’ youngest and relatively unknown player stood out among the star-studded roster.

FaZe made a strong start on Fracture, following the announcement of the signing of their rising star, Daniel “Rossy” Abedrabbo. Though Rossy had a quiet opening map, the rest of the FaZe core dominated both sides of Fracture, with POISED and babybay leading the way. They decisively took G2’s pick with a score of 13-5.

Despite losing their map pick lopsidedly, G2 found redemption in their own rising star, Francis “OXY” Hoang. OXY had a standout performance on Raze on Icebox, securing 27 kills against only 13 deaths and winning all five of his opening duels. His impactful plays helped G2 secure a big 13-4 win on FaZe’s pick.

Furthermore, former Sentinels star ShahZaM had a remarkable showing on Haven, and while OXY didn’t achieve the same impressive numbers as on Icebox, he had crucial multi-kill rounds towards the end of the map. This included a triple elimination with his Jett knives in the final round to secure the victory.

OXY ended the series with dominant stats, leading in total kills (55 compared to the next highest of 41 by POISED), highest ACS (313), highest K/D differential, and highest opening duel differential.
