New Deadlock Patch Introduces VALORANT LCQ Tournament

VCT Last Chance Qualifiers

Riot Games has confirmed that the Last Chance Qualifiers for the 2023 VCT Champions in Los Angeles will be played on VALORANT Patch 7.00. However, the newly released agent, Deadlock, will be disabled for the qualifying event. Deadlock will still be available for teams to select in Game Changers.

Preparations for the Biggest VALORANT Event

With only a month left until the VCT Champions, pro teams from around the world will battle it out in the Last Chance Qualifier. But there’s a twist—some carefully-laid traps may be waiting for them.

The Americas VALORANT Players Association confirmed that the LCQ will be played on Patch 7.00. This means teams will have access to Deadlock but will also need to adapt to recent changes introduced in the game.

Changes that May Shift the Competitive Meta

Ammo reserves have been nerfed, resulting in the Vandal and Phantom losing an entire magazine in Patch 6.11. This change may reduce the spamming through smoke strategy commonly used by professional players. Some players considered this strategy “boring.”

In response to the nerf, teams may increase their usage of visual and physical barriers. These barriers can be effective in blocking enemies from entering chokepoints or retaking a site. Agents like Deadlock, Sage, and Harbor, who have different forms of barriers, could play a significant role in site defense and risky defuses.

Teams must now be more cautious about their weapon fire and utility usage, as spamming locations and running out of ammo can lead to a disadvantage in a firefight.

Last Chance Qualifiers Details

The Last Chance Qualifiers will commence on Saturday, July 15, in America and Pacific regions.
