New Chinese Professional VALORANT League Introduces Ec1s’ Team; George’s Gossip Reveals

The Latest Gossip in the VALORANT Scene

Despite roster changes settling down in VALORANT, the rumor mill keeps churning with new gossip.

The future of VALORANT esports looks promising – high viewership for Challengers, plans for expansion into China, and the biggest international tournament just around the corner.

A VALORANT League in China?

Riot Games aims to enter the Chinese market for VALORANT. The global head of VALORANT esports, Leo Faria, recently held an exclusive meeting with Chinese organizations and Riot.

The relationship between Riot and Chinese-based organizations goes beyond a mere league agreement. In 2011, Chinese conglomerate Tencent acquired a majority stake in Riot, later resulting in full ownership in 2015.

Considering this ownership, it’s logical for Tencent to develop a league in China and profit directly from the regional audience.

News of a potential VALORANT league in China surfaced after the meeting between Chinese organizations and Riot. Bloomberg reported that the league could debut as early as this summer.

The Chinese league is unlikely to be part of the international or challengers league system. Since VALORANT was only approved in China a few months ago, teams from China may have a separate pathway to earn a spot in Masters or Champions, aligning with Riot’s push to include Chinese teams in the global system.

It’s anticipated that the Chinese league will have its own distinct format, separate from the regular challengers and international leagues.

Ec1s’ Journey

Adam “ec1s” Eccles, former in-game leader for 100 Thieves, has played at the highest level in North America and Europe. However, his recent performances have declined, and he now finds himself competing in the second tier of European competition with Human Tripwires in the VALORANT Challengers League Polaris. Unfortunately, his team is currently sitting at the bottom of the standings with one win and five losses.

Some redemption may come for ec1s. Owl Drone Media reported that he and former Fnatic player Domagoj “doma” Fancev are expected to join Velocity Gaming, an Indian team competing in the upcoming South Asia Challengers league.

Although ec1s has signed with Velocity Gaming, doma has yet to finalize the deal, according to sources. Nonetheless, fans can look forward to ec1s’s return for a chance at redemption.

When it becomes official, ec1s may have played in almost every region imaginable.
