NA’s “Superteam” Eliminated from VCT LOCK//IN Following DRX’s Incredible Comeback

DRX Defeats Cloud9 in VALORANT Match at VCT LOCK//IN

The alpha bracket continued today at VCT LOCK//IN in São Paulo with a heavyweight showdown between North America’s Cloud9 and Korea’s DRX. Both teams have long histories in VALORANT and both carry the hopes of their region on their shoulders in 2023. With just six teams left on this side of the bracket heading into the game, things were coming down to the wire.

The series was a rollercoaster from start to finish, with periods of dominance from both sides. The best players in the world showcased their skills on the stage, with calculated teamplay and individual mechanics taking center stage.

C9 chose Pearl as the first map of the series, dominating DRX and leaving them unable to execute their strategies effectively. Despite Pearl being a defender-sided map, C9’s retakes were impressive. They coordinated their moves and showcased their skills.

C9 took Pearl with a score of 13-3. DRX had a tough start but fought back on Haven, ultimately tying the series with a 13-7 victory. Moving on to Icebox, DRX opted for a different composition, excluding Sage. This decision paid off as they dominated C9 and secured an impressive 13-2 victory.

Stax from DRX was the standout player of the match, winning the MVP fan vote and receiving praise from casters and analysts for his performance on Harbor.

With this defeat, C9 is now out of the tournament. DRX will face the winner of Evil Geniuses vs Talon Esports tomorrow, Feb. 19 at 2pm CT.
