NA VCT 2022: Team of the Week – Challengers One, week 5

The North America VCT Challengers One main event group stage play concluded with an exciting final week. Now it’s time to reveal our Team of the Week for this stage.

Cloud9 and Version1 both finished the stage with perfect 5-0 records. Unfortunately, The Guard’s loss to C9 ended their TOTW appearance streak. However, V1 continues to have at least one player nominated each week. Additionally, one VALORANT player made his record third appearance, and one organization finally earned a player nomination for the first time this stage.

Here is the Team of the Week for NA VCT Challengers One, week five.

Duelist: Cloud9’s leaf

The most dominant performance of the week, and possibly the entire stage, came from C9’s dynamic duelist Nathan “leaf” Orf. He earned the highest player rating of the entire stage and became the only player to secure three TOTW appearances.

Leaf’s legendary performance was against C9’s toughest opponent yet, The Guard. After a below-average game on Breach, he switched back to Jett and had an outstanding showing on Ascent. But his best performance came on Haven, with a record-breaking one-man show: 30 kills and only seven deaths, resulting in a 4.29 KD and a 504 ACS score. He dominated the duel against The Guard’s rising star duo of trent and Sayaplayer. Total dominance.

Initiator: NRG’s eeiu

NRG and Daniel “eeiu” Vucenovic made their first TOTW appearance with an impressive series in the final week. Despite being eliminated from the playoffs, NRG dominated Rise in their last series.

Eeiu’s performance on Breach was exceptional, leading the team with 318 ACS from 24 kills and only 11 deaths. He also tied teammate ANDROID with the highest KAST percentage at 85%. His switch to Sova on Haven resulted in a series-high 325 ACS in a dominant 13-4 win. Eeiu won all six opening duels as well.

Sentinel: V1’s wippie

Maxim “wippie” Shepelev earns his second TOTW appearance after a great performance against Knights in week one. With his inclusion, V1 becomes the only team to have a player named to all five TOTW lists, with four of the roster members appearing at least once.

Wippie’s spot in the TOTW came from a strong team performance against Sentinels, particularly on Ascent and Haven. He showcased versatility, playing as Killjoy and Chamber, and finished with the highest K/D, ACS, and ADR in the server.

Controller: XSET’s dephh

XSET’s win against Luminosity was key in securing a better playoff matchup. Rory “dephh” Jackson played a significant role, especially on Astra.

Dephh’s standout performance came on Breeze, leading in K/D, ACS, and ADR in a dominant 13-5 win. He also had the highest first blood win rate on his team, winning seven out of 11 opening fights.

Flex: OpTic’s Victor

OpTic needed a win in the final week to secure a better playoff matchup, and Victor Wong delivered against Knights.

Playing as KAY/O and Raze, Victor’s kills doubled his deaths, contributed 17 assists, and won five out of six opening duels. Consistent performances like this from Victor will be crucial for OpTic in overcoming strong teams like C9, V1, and The Guard.
