Money Issues Continue to Impact Another VALORANT Challengers League

VALORANT Challengers League in EMEA Struggling with Financial Issues

The VALORANT Challengers League in EMEA, which is part of the tier-two ecosystem, is facing significant financial difficulties. This includes large sums of money owed to players and casters by teams and the broadcast organizers.

A recent report by journalists Corentin Phalip and Lucas Jacque reveals that three teams that left the VALORANT France Challengers league (Revolution) owe nearly €50,000 in unpaid bills to players. In addition, the league’s organizer, Freaks4U, reportedly owes over 30,000 euros to its casters.

During the first split of Revolution, three organizations, namely Sector One, HEET, and beGenius ESC, have already disbanded their rosters. Sector One, in fact, ceased operations just days into the first Revolution split in January.

The Eclypsia report highlights the beGenius manager’s Twitter statement, where he mentioned frequent late payments and the organization’s management lying about its financial health. BeGenius co-owner Nicolas “Tyxbo” Durrieu confirmed the org’s departure from VALORANT the next day, citing financial issues as one of the reasons.

The primary issue leading to organizations stepping away from the VALORANT France Challengers league is the lack of sponsorships. This lack of funds has also impacted Freaks4U’s ability to pay casters on time. The Freaks4U vice president acknowledged their responsibility for the company’s billing process but blamed the current state of the global economy.

The casters who are owed money are now considering not participating in the upcoming VCT EMEA debut in a few days.
