Mixwell, Spanish VALORANT superstar, triumphs with Team Heretics

Spanish Esports Organization Team Heretics Signs VALORANT Superstar

Spanish esports organization Team Heretics has made its second official signing of the VALORANT offseason. The team has added Spanish superstar Oscar “mixwell” Cañellas Colocho to its roster, who was previously a member of G2 Esports. With this signing, Heretics is now on its way to completing its five-man starting roster for the upcoming VCT EMEA 2023 league. Mixwell will reunite with former G2 teammate Wassim “keloqz” Cista, and it will be interesting to see if the two will play together on Heretics.

A Promising Future for Team Heretics

Mixwell will also be reuniting with another former teammate from his Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) days, Christian “loWel” Garcia Antoran. The two players briefly played alongside each other on Movistar Riders between 2018 and 2019. Both players transitioned from CS:GO to VALORANT in 2020, and now they are set to showcase their skills as part of Team Heretics.

G2 Releases Entire Division, Opening Up Opportunities for Mixwell

Mixwell is the first member of the former G2 roster to sign with a new team. G2 recently released its entire VALORANT division, as the organization had plans to acquire a partnership in the Americas league and pick up the XSET players and staff. However, due to controversy surrounding former owner Carlos Rodriguez, G2 was unable to secure the partnership. This created an opportunity for Mixwell to find a new team.

Looking Ahead to VCT 2023

Team Heretics’ roster is still not fully determined, but the organization has a strong history. Heretics won First Strike for EMEA in 2020 and had a competitive presence in the early stages of VCT 2021. However, the team struggled to maintain its competitiveness in 2021 and 2022. Team Heretics, along with 30 other partnered teams from around the world, will make their debut at the VCT 2023 kickoff event in Sao Paulo, Brazil in February.
