Mastering Viper in VALORANT: Ace your game with ultimate, abilities, and tips

Viper in VALORANT: A Critical Guide

Looking for a powerful and versatile agent in VALORANT? Look no further than Viper. While her kit is often labeled as “toxic,” it is undeniably effective in any team composition. Viper specializes in zone control, weakening enemies’ vision and health, and obstructing their overall gameplay. Let’s dive into a comprehensive guide on how to play as the “toxic” controller agent, Viper.

Viper’s Abilities in VALORANT

  • Poison Cloud (Q): Create a toxic gas cloud that obstructs and damages enemies.
  • Toxic Screen (E): Create a wall of toxic energy that obstructs vision and harms anyone who touches it.
  • Snakebite (C): Launch a canister that creates a toxic zone upon impact, damaging anyone standing on it.
  • Viper’s Pit (X): Spray a chemical cloud in all directions, reducing vision range and maximum health of all players inside.

Tips and Tricks for Playing Viper in VALORANT

As Viper, your primary task during rounds is to wall off or smoke enemy chokepoints. Toxic Screen provides a visual indication of where the wall will appear, making it easier for you to strategize without memorizing specific spots. It’s important to remember that both Poison Cloud and Toxic Screen have limited charges that deplete faster when both are active.

Snakebite is a useful ability to flush out enemies from their hiding spots and is especially effective for post-plant situations. By using Snakebite strategically, you can prevent the opposing team from retaking the spike, even if you’re not near it.

Viper’s ultimate ability, Viper’s Pit, is her most powerful tool. It covers an entire site with a toxic cloud, significantly reducing opponents’ health and obstructing their vision. There are several opportune moments to maximize the value of Viper’s Pit:

  • On defense, use Viper’s Pit at the beginning of the round in the primary entryway to the site. This forces the opposing team to execute with a disadvantage or divert to a different site where your team may be stronger.
  • On defense, deploy Viper’s Pit at the end of the round on a site. If the attacking side is running out of time, make it even more challenging for them by forcing a panicked spike plant in the middle of an enemy Viper’s Pit.
  • On attack, activate Viper’s Pit during a spike plant. With the spike in the middle of the toxic cloud, defenders face an uphill battle when attempting a retake.
