MAD Lions Announces Departure from CS:GO, Disbands Roster and Staff Prior to Venturing into VALORANT

MAD Lions Leaves CS:GO, Shifts Focus to VALORANT

MAD Lions has made the decision to step away from competing in CS:GO. Effective immediately, all active players and staff are being moved to the transfer list. The organization is expected to announce its VALORANT roster within the next two weeks.

Transitioning to a New Chapter

In a Twitter post, MAD Lions bid farewell to CS:GO with a montage showcasing the team’s memorable moments. The organization expressed gratitude to all the players and coaches who have represented MAD Lions.

New Opportunities for the Players

The active lineup consisting of TMB, jL, b0RUP, MICHU, and somedieyoung, along with coach kuben and manager/assistant coach MusambaN1, have all been moved to the inactive/transfer list. It is worth noting that both MICHU and somedieyoung were signed by MAD Lions earlier this year in January.

A Brief History of MAD Lions

MAD Lions, a Spanish organization established in 2017, initially entered CS:GO with an all-Spanish roster. In 2019, the organization was acquired by OverActive Media Group, who also own the Splyce organization and franchise spots in the Overwatch League and Call of Duty League. MAD Lions transitioned to a Danish roster and emerged as the champions of the inaugural season of Flashpoint.

Strategic Decision and New Ventures

The decision to discontinue the CS:GO division of MAD Lions coincides with OverActive Media Group’s announcement of a $15.4 million loss in their fourth-quarter financial results. The organization attributes this loss to modifications in franchise obligations. Additionally, OverActive Media Group is venturing into the rapidly growing VALORANT scene with the signing of a top European player roster, which is rumored to be the men’s Tenstar roster.
