VCT Champions 2022: LOUD Takes Redemption Against ZETA Division
Day two of VCT Champions 2022 started with a highly anticipated match between LOUD and ZETA Division, two of the top teams from Masters Reykjavík. Both teams were seeking redemption after their disappointing performances in Masters Copenhagen.
Despite finishing in the top three in Reykjavík, LOUD and ZETA didn’t face each other in that tournament. LOUD made it to the grand finals through direct playoff qualification, while ZETA had a miracle run through groups and the lower playoff bracket. Unfortunately, their success didn’t continue in Copenhagen. LOUD was eliminated in the group stage after two losses, and ZETA didn’t even qualify after losing in the Japan Stage Two final.
However, these setbacks didn’t stop the teams from qualifying for VCT Champions. Both LOUD and ZETA were drawn into Group B. Their first match took place on Ascent, a map favored by LOUD. Despite ZETA winning the close pistol round, LOUD showcased their prowess on defense and turned a 7-5 deficit into an 11-7 lead. ZETA only managed to win one attack round, while LOUD’s defense remained solid.
The next map was Fracture, which played to ZETA’s strengths in defensive aggression. Neon, Raze, and Breach of ZETA pushed and harassed LOUD, but LOUD’s early picks and playmaking allowed them to secure three crucial attack rounds. The score stood at 7-5 in ZETA’s favor at the half.
The LOUD defense came alive in the second half of Fracture, with notable performances from saadhak and Less. LOUD’s dominant defensive play, including fast flanks and ZETA’s struggle with trade timing, gave them a comfortable victory with a score of 13-9.
With this win, LOUD now has two opportunities to reach the playoffs at Champions by winning just one more series. On the other hand, ZETA must win two straight series to stay in the competition.
