Liquid puts an end to Fnatic’s unbeaten 21-game streak, emerging as champions of VCT EMEA

Team Liquid Claims Victory as VALORANT VCT EMEA League Champions

Team Liquid emerged as the champions of the 2023 VALORANT VCT EMEA League after pulling off an upset against LOCK//IN champions, Fnatic, in the grand final on May 28.

Fnatic, the dominant force in the EMEA region throughout the VCT-partnered league, won all nine series and dropped just one map against BBL Esports while playing with a substitute, after winning the LOCK//IN tournament in March.

Fnatic’s Domination in the EMEA Region

Fnatic continued their undefeated streak in the playoffs, defeating FUT Esports and Team Liquid in the winners’ final with scores of 14-12 and 13-6, respectively, to secure their spot in the grand final.

A Remarkable Turn of Events

In the grand final, Team Liquid faced off against Fnatic once more. Despite Fnatic having a two-map ban advantage, Team Liquid fought back and took the game to overtime, ultimately securing a 14-12 victory to deny Fnatic’s legendary comeback ability.

Team Liquid’s Triumph

With an outstanding performance throughout the series, Team Liquid lifted the EMEA 2023 trophy and secured the top seed at the upcoming Tokyo Masters event.

Now, as the top-seeded EMEA team in Tokyo, both Team Liquid and Fnatic will skip the tournament’s initial group stage and start their title run in the quarterfinals. However, only the top three teams between Liquid, Fnatic, NAVI, and FUT in Tokyo will qualify for VALORANT’s world championship event.

With the VCT Americas champion yet to be determined, the best teams in the world will converge in Tokyo, Japan, from June 11 to 25.
