LEC team and successful CS:GO Major-winning organization now focuses on VALORANT

Global Esports Organization SK Gaming Enters VALORANT

SK Gaming, a renowned esports organization with a strong presence in European League of Legends and Counter-Strike, has made its foray into the world of VALORANT.

Although the specific details and plans are currently undisclosed, SK Gaming has officially announced its entry into the VALORANT scene. This move makes SK Gaming the last team from the LEC (League of Legends European Championship) to venture into the rising tactical FPS game. With Astralis exiting the LEC and Karmine Corp taking their place, SK Gaming was the final organization to make their move towards VALORANT.

In the realm of European League of Legends, SK Gaming has been a competitive force for over a decade. Despite appearing in the World Championships in 2012 and 2014, they have yet to secure a trophy in the League division. However, SK Gaming has a successful history of winning trophies in the tactical shooter genre.

After participating in CS:GO with a European roster for many years, SK Gaming acquired the legendary Brazilian roster from Luminosity in the summer of 2016. This move proved fruitful as they secured a Major trophy at ESL One Cologne a few months later. Throughout 2017, the core roster consisting of FalleN, fer, and coldzera continued to dominate and win several trophies. Eventually, the players would depart to revive the MIBR brand in the summer of 2018, signifying SK Gaming’s departure from Counter-Strike.

Regarding their approach to VALORANT, SK Gaming has various options. Drawing from their extensive history in Europe and Brazil, they can explore Challengers rosters in either region and consider an Ascension run. They could also tap into the pool of talented North American Challengers or venture into the Game Changers scene. Early speculations suggest that if the reported G2-V1 merger goes ahead, G2 Gozen or the Version1 roster may become available.
