Learn a Clever Sova Recon Arrow from Evil Geniuses to Outsmart your VALORANT Foes on Ascent

Evil Geniuses Stun DRX with Sneaky Sova Play at VCT Masters Tokyo 2023

The ongoing VCT Masters Tokyo 2023 tournament has already provided an exciting start, with Evil Geniuses delivering a monumental victory over the once-dominant DRX roster. The highlight of this match was a clever Sova recon play by EG, which caught DRX off guard on their map pick of Ascent.

In the sixth round of Ascent, EG had already taken a strong 4-1 lead following their convincing win on Fracture. EG’s Corbin “c0m” Lee, primarily a Sova main but occasionally playing Viper, executed a cunning strategy that not only gathered information but also misinformed the enemy team.

Standing near the defender side entrance of the B site, c0m aimed towards the top of a large building that overlooked the defender side of the A site. With a full-strength arrow and a single bounce, the recon arrow soared over the entire A site and landed above the gelato sign in A main.

This arrow didn’t tag any enemy players, but it pressured DRX into reacting and confirmed their presence near the top of mid. It also misled DRX into thinking that Sova was defending the A site, potentially from heaven. However, Sova was already in market, catching DRX’s Foxy9 off guard when he used the Owl Drone to tag him. This led to an opening kill for c0m on the opposing Jett.

With DRX losing their Jett, their attempt to push into either site fell apart. The top team from Korea even called a timeout to regroup after this round.

If you want to use this arrow in your own gameplay, it’s not too difficult to replicate. Head toward the B site, position yourself in the corner near the entrance, aim at the large building overlooking the A site, charge the arrow to maximum power with one bounce, and aim at the top of the right window just below the roofline.

This impressive play by Evil Geniuses demonstrates the strategic depth and innovative tactics that can make a difference in VALORANT esports. Stay tuned for more exciting moments from VCT Masters Tokyo 2023!
