Karmine Corp recruits top EMEA free agent, former Fnatic star to kickstart rebuild

Former Fnatic Player Magnum Joins Karmine Corp for 2024 VALORANT Season

According to a report from blix.gg, former Apeks and Fnatic star Martin “Magnum” Peňkov has reached a verbal agreement to join the French EMEA team Karmine Corp. This marks Karmine Corp’s first signing for the upcoming 2024 season as they look to bounce back from a disappointing 2023 campaign.

Magnum’s Success with Fnatic and Apeks

Magnum joined Fnatic midway through 2021, teaming up with Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev to bring Fnatic to new heights. During his time with Fnatic, Magnum’s role as a Sentinel helped the team achieve great success, including a victory in Stage Two Challengers Two in 2021 and a top position in the EMEA region. However, as time went on, Fnatic struggled against other top EMEA teams, resulting in Magnum being moved to the inactive roster and eventually leaving the team.

Magnum’s Potential and Move to Karmine Corp

Due to his impressive performances with Fnatic in 2021 and Apeks in 2023, Magnum became a sought-after player by many EMEA teams, with KOI showing interest in adding him to their roster. While he briefly joined KOI after leaving Fnatic, Magnum quickly made the move to Apeks. Although Apeks reached the EMEA Ascension finals with Magnum’s help, they ultimately lost to French organization Gentle Mates.

Despite not qualifying for franchising with Apeks, Magnum’s strong performance in the EMEA Ascension tournament caught the attention of Karmine Corp. The team has now secured Magnum’s talent and he may face off against his former Fnatic teammates.

Karmine Corp had a challenging 2023 season, experiencing multiple roster changes, a mid-season departure, and finishing with a 2-7 record. With the departure of Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom, the team is now focused on rebuilding their roster for the 2024 season.

Karmine Corp’s Focus on Stability with Magnum

With Magnum’s addition, Karmine Corp aims to bring stability and a player with experience in tier-one play. Magnum can fulfill the Sentinel or Controller role depending on the needs of the final roster. Despite attracting interest from various EMEA teams, Magnum chose Karmine Corp, a team with a dedicated fanbase looking to bounce back and prove their critics wrong.
