Insightful Comparison between Spectator and Player POV of Viper’s Ultimate in VALORANT

VALORANT: Inconsistencies Between Player and Spectator Views of Viper’s Ultimate Ability

VALORANT players have noticed a discrepancy between how Viper’s ultimate ability appears for players in-game versus spectators. This disparity can negatively impact gameplay.

In a recent Reddit clip, a player was aiming at an enemy with an Operator when they were unexpectedly killed by an unseen opponent. This led to confusion among their teammates, as they couldn’t understand how the player couldn’t see the enemy who killed them. It was later realized that the player and spectators had different views, which prevented the player from seeing the opponent, despite the opponent being visible on the screen for the spectators.

The player couldn’t see the enemy due to Viper’s ultimate ability obstructing their view. However, the ability appeared lower for spectators, allowing them to see the enemy.

This inconsistency resulted in the player’s death and their teammates being unable to accurately communicate the presence of the enemy. This can be a significant issue in game situations where players have different perspectives, hindering clear communication.

Spectators may assume that players can see enemies even if they are obstructed on their screen. This can lead to confusion and teams not being on the same page, potentially impacting the outcome of important rounds and matches.

Other players have explained that Viper’s ultimate ability is client-based, meaning it appears differently for each player. It remains unclear if Riot Games can make changes to the ability to create more consistency.
