Iceland Chosen as Home for 2022’s Initial VALORANT Masters Tournament

VALORANT Masters 2022 to be Held in Iceland

The first VALORANT Masters event of 2022 is set to take place in Reykjavík, Iceland, according to the official VALORANT Esports Weibo account.

The announcement, shared on the Chinese platform, provides details about the upcoming offline event. The Masters event is scheduled to run from April 10 to 24, shortly after the conclusion of the VALORANT Champions Tour Stage One Challengers in North America and Europe.

This international tournament will feature 12 teams from around the world.

“As host country, Iceland has hosted our recent major events brilliantly and, in the current global situation, provides the best way to ensure the success of the event,” the statement reads.

Although the statement does not mention if there will be an audience, it emphasizes that bringing VALORANT events to live audiences in 2022 is a top priority.

The selection of Iceland as the event location is due to its accessibility amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which may affect travel for teams from different parts of the world.

The first international VALORANT Masters event took place in Iceland back in May last year. The tournament, which did not have a live audience, saw Sentinels claim victory out of the 10 participating teams. Sentinels walked away with a $200,000 grand prize and 400 circuit points.
