Hopeful VALORANT Fans Wait for the Return of Paper Rex Star from Inactive Roster

Sad Day for Paper Rex and VALORANT Fans as Star Player Jinggg Steps Down

It’s a sad day for fans of both Paper Rex and VALORANT as Wang “Jinggg” Jing Jie, the first and reigning VCT Pacific champion and Champions 2023 grand finalist, has officially been moved to the bench. The young star from Singapore is stepping down from the starting roster to fulfill his mandatory military service, which all qualified men in the country are required to do for a duration of two years. However, Paper Rex has made it clear that Jinggg will remain part of the team.

“There is no question that [Jinggg] is a valuable member of Paper Rex. He is still part of the Paper Rex VALORANT team and plays an active role in this off-season,” wrote Chief Gaming Officer Harley “dsn” Örwall. “Jing is filled with positive energy, fearless aggression, and continues to personify our identity of WGAMING.”

Hopeful Fans and a Possible Return

With Jinggg appearing to stay with Paper Rex despite potentially missing the next two seasons, many fans are hopeful that one of the most exciting players in VALORANT will eventually make a comeback. The official announcement on social media has been flooded with replies and reposts from fans who are convinced that he will return.

Given the length of mandatory military service in Singapore, the earliest possible timeline for Jinggg’s return would be the 2026 season. However, he will still be only 22 years old at that time, leaving him with plenty of years to compete in the future.

Paper Rex’s Plans for the Future

In the meantime, Paper Rex has acquired Cahya “Monyet” Nugraha from Global Esports to complete their roster for 2024. With the rest of the roster, including VCT Pacific MVP, set to return next year, the team is expected to be a global contender once again, even without Jinggg.
