Hiko Contemplates Switching from VALORANT to Counter-Strike with the Release of CS2

Hiko Considering Return to CS:GO After Playing VALORANT

Popular North American esports player Hiko has expressed his desire to return to the world of Counter-Strike after spending the past three years competing in VALORANT.

Missing CS:GO

During a livestream on May 30, Hiko revealed that he misses playing CS:GO and intends to make a comeback once CS2 is released worldwide this summer.

“If you haven’t seen me in a while and you’re wondering where I’ve gone, I’ve been playing VALORANT for the last couple of years,” Hiko said during a stream. “But I think I’ll make a comeback to CS once CS2 comes out. I’ll probably start streaming CS2 a lot. I do kinda miss this game [CS].”

A Shift to VALORANT

In 2019, Hiko stopped competing in CS:GO and transitioned into full-time streaming. However, he returned to competitive gaming when 100 Thieves offered him a spot on their VALORANT lineup in June 2020. Hiko then focused on honing his skills in VALORANT and has been streaming the game under the 100 Thieves banner since April 2022.

The Age Gap

Despite the growth of Hiko’s brand and audience during his time in VALORANT, he still contemplates switching back to CS:GO. The 33-year-old highlighted the age difference between the two communities and expressed a preference for the CS community.

“The [CS] community, in general, is just better,” Hiko said. “The VALORANT community is a little cringe to me, and probably because I’m just older. I think the average age in most of the CS people is older than the VALORANT people, but ultimately we’ll see. I don’t know what is about to happen.”

CS2 Release Date Uncertain

The exact release date for CS2 is currently unknown. Valve has remained quiet, leaving fans speculating about what the definitive update for CS:GO will entail. This gives Hiko more time to decide the direction of his streaming career.
