Heretics may lose VCT points following roster overhaul

Heretics Faces Setback in VALORANT Champions Tour

Heretics, a Spanish esports organization, has experienced significant roster changes in its VALORANT team. Since May, they have traded four out of five players, leaving Christian “lowel” Garcia as the only remaining member from the original lineup. As a result, Heretics will enter Stage Three of the VALORANT Champions Tour with zero points, according to a report by VLR.gg.

Previous Success and Recent Struggles

In March, Heretics earned 70 points from the VCT Europe Stage One Masters event, where they reached the grand finals but lost to Acend. The team had a dominant position in the European scene in 2020 and notably won First Strike Europe in December. However, following their runner-up finish in the Masters event, Heretics faced challenges in the subsequent Stage Two Challengers events. They were knocked out in the quarterfinals of both tournaments, failing to accumulate any additional VCT points.

Violation of VCT Competition Policy

VLR.gg reached out to Riot Games regarding Heretics’ roster changes. According to section 3.7.1 of the VCT Global Competition Policy, a team must maintain a core of at least three players from its qualified lineup to participate in a competition. The policy states that the right to progress to the next stage of an Official Competition is owned by the team and its owner(s), contingent upon keeping a minimum of three players who were part of the qualification process.

Based on this policy, Heretics’ four roster changes mean that the team will not retain the 70 VCT points earned during the VCT Europe Stage One Masters event.

Current Lineup and Heretics’ Response

Heretics’ current VALORANT lineup includes Ardis “ardiis” Svarenieks, Patryk “paTiTek” Fabrowski, Ondřej “MONSTEERR” Petrů, Felix “al0rante” Brandl, and lowel.

As of now, Heretics has not commented on the matter.
